Theatre Veteran Yashwant Sardeshpande Passes Away at 60

Renowned Kannada theatre actor and director Yashwant Sardeshpande passed away this morning following a massive heart attack. He was 60.

Born in Hubballi, Sardeshpande carved a unique place in the world of theatre with his memorable performances and direction. Around 10 a.m., he suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to Fortis Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he could not be revived.


A Theatre Legacy

Sardeshpande’s play “All the Best” was a landmark success and remains one of the most celebrated productions in Kannada theatre. His versatility also extended to television and films, where he became a familiar face. His role in “Rama Shyama Bhama” catapulted him into the spotlight and cemented his place as a respected actor.


A Loss Mourned

News of his passing has left the theatre fraternity, fans, and admirers across the country in shock. Tributes have been pouring in for the late actor, remembered not only for his artistry but also for his contribution to keeping Kannada theatre vibrant.

He is survived by his wife Malathi, herself a noted theatre and television artist.

vTwo foreign nationals involved in drug trafficking were arrested following a raid in Hebbagodi on September 25. During questioning, they admitted to buying MDMA crystals and ecstasy tablets at low prices and selling them to known customers at higher prices, the statement said.
