Sujeeth’s much-hyped gangster drama They Call Him OG has been making waves at the box office since its release on 25 September (with paid premieres on 24 September). Starring Pawan Kalyan, Emraan Hashmi, and Priyanka Mohan in lead roles, the film may have received mixed reviews, but its collections prove that audience interest remains strong.
On day 5, the film collected an estimated ₹7.45 crore net in India, bringing its domestic total to ₹147.65 crore, according to Sacnilk. As expected, Monday saw a dip compared to the weekend, but with the Dasara holidays approaching, trade experts believe the film’s run is far from over.
A Massive Opening and Strong Weekend
OG created headlines right from its premieres, collecting ₹21 crore before its official release day. With premium ticket prices—₹1000 in Andhra Pradesh and ₹800 in Telangana—the hype was enormous.
On opening day, the film pulled in ₹63.75 crore. Though collections dropped by 71% on Friday (₹18.45 crore), Saturday and Sunday steadied the pace with ₹18.5 crore each, bringing the weekend tally to ₹37 crore. By the end of its first five days, OG had already crossed ₹147 crore in India, with worldwide collections surging past ₹250 crore.
Ram Charan Backs His Uncle
Amidst the box office frenzy, actor Ram Charan showed his support by attending a special screening in Hyderabad on Monday evening. Pawan Kalyan, who had been recovering from viral fever and bronchitis before the release, also joined the team at the screening. The moment was special for fans, as it brought together two generations of the Mega family—Pawan and his nephew Ram Charan.
Star Power and Ensemble Cast
Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Entertainment, OG features Pawan Kalyan as gangster Ojas Gambheera, alongside Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj in key roles. The film’s combination of action, style, and Pawan’s star power continues to fuel its momentum despite the weekday dip.
The Road Ahead
With Dasara around the corner, trade analysts predict a significant boost in collections. Whether OG maintains its pace or faces sharper drops will depend on word-of-mouth and repeat viewership. But for now, the gangster drama stands tall as one of the biggest Telugu hits of the year, closing in on the ₹150 crore mark in India in less than a week.
